Welcome to Little India, Brickfield, Kuala Lumpur

Wishing all the HIndus, Jains & Sikhs in Malaysia & Overseas
a very Happy Deepavali !

" All LIFE is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better "

My Staycation & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) solo, free & easy day trip (Deepavali eve - Friday Nov 13 2020 09.15 > 13.15) to Brickfields & Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, by Rapid KL LRT trains from SS15 > KL Sentral > Pasar Seni > Bukit Bintang; my 18th outdoor visit after the lifting of Movement Control Order (MCO) by the Malaysian Government on June 10 2020 but due to a spike in Covid-19 cases, my home state, Selangor has been placed under Conditional Movement Control Order from Oct 14 & a further extension to Dec 6 2020 banning inter-state travel; my last visit to Little India during the Deepavali day was in Oct 27 2019 "

Total expenses incurred (3 LRT train rides): Rm2.10 + Rm0.90 + Rm2.10 = Rm5.10 (US$1.21 - Senior 50% discount)

Due to Covid-19 pandemic & the imposition of Movement Control Order (MCO), major religious festive celebrations had been scaled down this year including the forthcoming Deepavali (Festival of Lights); Deepavali symbolises the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance"; as for tomorrow (Saturday Nov 14, 2020), the Hindus, Jains & Sikhs in my home country will be celebrating their Deepavali festive occasion in a quiet & moderate manner but I believe it will be in high spirits making it a most meaningful & delightful one this year amid a Covid-19 outbreak & a lockdown in March / April 2020 !

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Deepavali - the do's & don'ts

Gentle reminder (Stay safe, if you have to go out, wear a mask, social distancing, wash hands, avoid crowded place) & preventive measures to stop the Covid-19 spike & break the chain - just beware !

Malaysia is a multi-racial country (population 32 million) hence there are 3-4 important religious & cultural celebrations hitherto practised traditionally & celebrated annually by the 3 main ethnic races here ie Malays (67%), Chinese (24%) & Indians (7%). Over the last 10 months despite the Covid-19 pandemic, I was able to pay a visit (observing SOP, wearing face mask, practising social distancing etc) to downtown Kuala Lumpur & visited a number of shopping malls to get a feel of the festive mood in each of these main festivals ie Chinese New Year, Hari Raya (Malay New Year), Deepavali (Festival of Lights) & Christmas. Due to public transport convenience ie use of LRT & MRT train rides, I was able to visit a few premier shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur City Centre with ease & comfort from my home place ie SS17, Subang Jaya ! I am pleased to share with you a few photos taken at Pavilion KL in 2020 - every picture has a story to tell !
