Malaysia (Covid-19 & My Staycation No 1 - Kuala Lumpur) June 6 2020 Part 2

10) River of Life & River's Edge, Kuala Lumpur - the convergence of Klang & Gombak rivers once served as Kuala Lumpur's main transport network thus given LIFE & birth to a new city during the early phase of economic development in the region ! 


Mural Mural on the Wall by the River's Edge, Kuala Lumpur - Art imitates life; an old building converted in a mural by the River of Life at Leboh Pasar, Kuala Lumpur; seeing the colorful & meaningful mural brightens up my day visit in Kuala Lumpur ! 


11) Colonial Walk & Heritage Trail, Dataran Mederka (Mederka Square or Independence Square) & the surrounding, Kuala Lumpur 


Colonial Walk & Heritage Trail - Royal Selangor Club, Kuala Lumpur, founded in 1884, a meeting place for high ranking members of the British Colonial Society 


12) Colonial Walk & Heritage Trail - Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Kuala Lumpur - where are the tourists ? Am I a lone ranger in the middle of this iconic historic landmark ? 


13) Cop's Fountain (1891), Dataran Mederka, Kuala Lumpur - a memorial to Steve Harper, a popular police inspector. 


14) National Flag Pole, Dataran Mederka, Kuala Lumpur 


15) Independence of Malaya (August 31 1957) from the British rule - shouts of Mederka by Tunku Abdul Rahman, the 1st Prime Minister of Malaya at the Dataran Mederka (Independence Square). The birth of a new country called Malaya & now Malaysia !

17) Plaza Dataran Merdeka (Underground) -closed during the MCO period


18) Perpustakan Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur Library) - built in 2001, Moorish architecture.


19) Kuala Lumpur City Gallery (Old Government Printing Office, built in 1904), Kuala Lumpur.


20) Old Chartered Bank Building (1891), Kuala Lumpur 


21) Old Central Railway Offices, Kuala Lumpur


22) Loke Yew Building, Jalan Mahkamah, Kuala Lumpur, 2 minutes walk from the historic Sultan Abdul Samad Building, owned by a wealthy Chinese businessman Wong Loke Yew (1845-1917) also the founder of Victoria Institution in Kuala Lumpur.


23) Central Market (Pasar Seni), Kuala Lumpur - the main building inside is closed from June 1 > August 30 2020 due to renovation in progress, built in 1928, a short walk from Petaling street along Jalan Hang Kasturi.


24) Kasturi Walk (next to Central Market), open air flea market & pre-war shop houses, sundry & provision shops, restaurants etc Kuala Lumpur; the flea  market was closed due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).


24) Guan Di Temple (1888), Jalan Tun H S Lee (Chinatown), Kuala Lumpur - a century old Taoist temple.


25) Medan Pasar Clock Tower (Old Market Square Clock Tower), Kuala Lumpur. 


26) Jalan Hang Lekir, Jalan Sultan & Tun Tan Cheng Lock (Chinatown area) - few pedestrians & you can easily count the number of people on the streets ! 


27) Pasar Seni Rapid KL LRT, MRT & Bus station, Kuala Lumpur - sky bridge connection to Masjid Negara, Kuala Lumpur Railway Station.


My return journey by Rapid KL LRT train ride (Kelana Jaya Line) from Pasar Seni > SS15, Subang Jaya - after 3 hours of merry go round walking tour (probably 5km) starting from Masjid Jamek > Masjid India > Jalan Dang Wangi / Jalan Ampang > River of Life, Lebuh Pasar > Dataran Mederka > Central Market / Kasturi Walk in Kuala Lumpur City Center (following the Colonial Walk & Heritage Trail), it was time to head home .... a bit tired but in high spirit ! My second short staycation accomplished in my home country, Malaysia amid the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak - a strange & unusual experience in my world of travelling thus far  !
