" My Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) in Taman Cheras (Yulek Heights), Kuala Lumpur on Saturday June 20 2020 (09.15 > 13.30) after the lifting of Movement Control Order (MCO) on June 10 2020, Malaysia is now in the Covid-19 Road to Recovery phase; by Rapid KL LRT train from SS15 > Pasar Seni, transits by MRT to Taman Mutiara & then by a feeder bus to Taman Cheras (Yulek Heights) & return - my first walking tour in Taman Cheras (Yulek), a mixed commercial & suburban residential area, located about 12km from Kuala Lumpur city center "
Total expenses incurred (2 train rides + 2 bus rides) = Rm2.90 x 2 + Rm0.50 x 2 = Rm6.80 (US$1.56 Senior 50% discount)
Travel itinerary (2 Rapid KL LRT train rides): SS15, Subang Jaya > Pasar Seni > Taman Mutiara > Pasar Seni > SS15 Subang Jaya
1) The start of my Rapid KL LRT train from SS15 > Pasar Seni & then by MRT train > Taman Mutiara
2) Transit by MRT train from Pasar Seni > Taman Mutiara (the nearest MRT station to Taman Cheras)
3) Feeder bus T409 from MRT Taman Mutiara station > Taman Cheras (Yulek Heights), Kuala Lumpur
4) Cheras Business Centre & Taman Cheras, Jalan Kaskas (Yulek Heights), Kuala Lumpur
5) Taman Cheras Wet Market, Kuala Lumpur - wearing face mask, queuing & social distancing observed when entering.
6) Low cost flats in Taman Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
7) Hospital Pantai Cheras, Jalan Lobak, Taman Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
8) Restoran Yulek Wan Tan Mee, Lorong Durian, Taman Cheras, Kuala Lumpur - an old established egg noodle (wan tan mee) stall (since 1983), known for serving the best wan tan mee / barbecued pork belly (char siew) in Cheras, can be very crowded during the morning breakfast & lunch hours, & take 30 minutes to serve ! Due to covid-19 pandemic, most customers opted for takeaway (tao bao) instead of eating inside the restaurant !
9) Restoran Kui Lum Noodle House, Lorong Lobak Taman Cheras, Kuala Lumpur - serving the best / favourite pork noodle laden with offal & minced pork
10) Restaurants, kopitiam, dim sum & eatery stalls operating in Taman Cheras (Yulek), Kuala Lumpur - narrow roads near the wet market, traffic congestion during the morning & lunch hours !
For hikers & the adventurous ones, you can hike your way up to Ah Pek hill, located in the Cheras area on the eastern edge of Kuala Lumpur ! The starting point of Ah Pek Hill Trail is in Taman Cheras Awana. After 3 months of Lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic, hiking activities are now permitted in Malaysia & this is really a good news for hikers, adventure seekers & outdoor lovers !
