My first visit to Bangkok was in the early 1980's. In the past few years, I had visited Bangkok 3-4 times and re-visited a number of tourist attractions eg Grand Temple, Wat Arun, Rose Garden, Crocodile Farm, China Town, Siam Square, Patpong, Silom, Chatuchak Weekend Market, Chao Phraya River boat ride, floating market etc .
So for this trip, I took it quite easy and took my group to visit a few popular places ie Wat Arun, China Town, Chao Phraya boat ride, Silom night market and Siam Square (Siam Paragon, Siam Centre & MBK shopping mall).
Of course, the highlight for this trip is taking a slow, non air-conditioned train ride from Thonburi to Kanachaburi to visit the famous Bridge over the River Kwai !
We stayed a total of 3 nights in Bangkok including a night upon our return from Chiang Mai. As our hotel is located opposite the Hua Lampong train station, it was quite convenient for our group to move around the city using Sky trains & MRT to the various places of interests.
Over all, we had a great stay in Bangkok. Good food, good rest & good sight seeing ! After staying for 2 nights in Bangkok, we took a bus from Mochi Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) for our next visit to Sukhothai.
