Sukhothai - The Dawn of Happiness |
Thailand has 5 UNESCO World Heritage sites and so far I had visited two of them ie the Historic City of Ayutthaya & the Historic Town of Sukhothai.
Given the popularity of Sukhothai Historical Park to tourists, it made sense for our group to visit this place, even though it was my second visit. Our group put up 2 nights in Sila Resort at the New Sukhothai town and on the 2nd day visited the Sukhothai Historical Park - spent the entire morning cycling around the Park and also visited Sri Chum Big Buddha and an Orchid flower exhibition (what a surprise & rewarding visit - I love taking pictures on flowers), 1 km from the Historical Park. This was the place I honed my skill again in bicycling & sweating profusely under a scorching sun !
As our visit coincided with a weekend (Saturday), we were able to visit the weekend night market in the new Sukhothai town and tried out some tasty yummy Thai food from the street stalls .
As for me, I had no regret coming here again as I enjoyed the slow pace of country life and the quiet & serene environment around the hotel we stayed.
