My last day in Urumqi. However, I had a full day here as our train to Dun Huang only departs at 7.45pm.
In the early morning, I visited a morning market in Urumqi, located not far from our hostel. I savored a bowl of hot soya bean beverage at a food stall and also bought some bananas and pastries as snacks to be eaten in the train. This place was well patronized by the local residents and you could virtually buy everything from fresh meat, fruit & vegetables, bread and pastries, household items, clothing etc
Erdao Qiao market - In the late morning, we took a taxi and visited the Erdao Qiao market - not that exciting compared to the International Grand Bazaar. The various merchandise on sales in this market were basic food and items of necessity to the local residents.
We had an early dinner at a local restaurant and at around 5.0pm, we took a bus to the Urumqi railway station and boarded our tourist train to Liu Yuan train station to continue our visit to Dun Huang.
" Bye bye Urumqi ! My brother hinted to me that we should do a Southern Xinjiang trip to places like Kuqa, Kashgar & Hotan if we are planning to make a come back to Xinjiang again - we shall see !"
