Sam Poh Tong Temple

Ling Sen Tong Temple

Day 5 (Final) - Good Friday May 10 2024 (Ipoh, Perak) - focused our group's visit to 3 cave temples (Nan Thean Tong, Sam Poh Tong & Ling Sen Tong, these 3 cave temples are located next to one another) in the southern outskirts of Ipoh (off Jalan Gopeng) before heading home !

Travel Itinerary: Sam Poh Tong, Ipoh, Perak > SS17, Subang Jaya, Selangor (approx 200km)

1) Foh San Restaurant, Jalan Leong Sim Lam, Kampung Jawa, Ipoh, Perak - our group's breakfast (08.00) in this old established dim sum restaurant (since 1971), savouring 17 assorted type of dim sum + a pot of hot Chinese tea (BYO), totalled Rm117.75 (US$24.40, inclusive of service tax for a table of 4, a treat from KM); excellent service, nice ambience & quiet !

2) The Dim Sum street of Ipoh (along the main street of Leong Sim Lam) - pick your choice of dim sum restaurants when in Ipoh, my favourites are Foh San & Ming Court (weekend could be crowded so be prepared to queue up for 15 > 20 minutes in the early morning !)

3) Nam Thean Tong Temple, No 1, Ipoh - a 19th century Taoist cave temple.

4) Sam Poh Tong Temple, Kampung Gunung Rapat, Ipoh - a Chinese temple (follows the branch of Mahayana Buddhism) built within a limestone cave in the mountains located about 5km from the Ipoh city centre.

5) Ling Sen Tong, Ipoh, Perak - located next door to Nam Thean Tong & Sam Poh Tong, off Jalan Gopeng on the southern outskirts of Ipoh

6) After the 3 cave temple visits, it was time to say bye bye to Ipoh & our group took a leisure drive back to Subang Jaya (via North-South Highway, toll Rm20.30) thus ending our 3 days 2 nights outstation visit to Kuala Sepetang, Taiping & Ipoh ! Upon arrival in Subang Jaya (13.30), my cousin brother decided to take a late afternoon First Coach bus departing 16.45 & expect to arrive in Singapore at around 23.15 !

6) Lunch in Jin Zhou Pan Mee restaurant in SS19, Subang Jaya, Selangor - each of us savoured a bowl of pan mee Rm9 (US$1.90, a treat from KM). At 16.15, I drove my cousin brother to the First Coach Terminal, Subang Parade to board (departing 16.45) a long distance First Coach bus back to Singapore !  Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end, it simple means I'll miss you until we meet again ! Take care, cousin Sung & I look forward to meet up with you & other of my cousin brothers & sisters in Singapore soon !
