Petaling Street (Chinatown) by Night |
continued from Part 1 ....
1) Kwai Chai Hong (Little Ghost Lane), Jalan Panggung, Kuala Lumpur City Center - a hidden alleyway tucked between Jalan Panggung & Jalan Petaling in Chinatown (the heart of Kuala Lumpur City Centre), a well preserved rich Chinese heritage site dating back to 1960s ! Today, this Little Ghost Lane or Little Demon Alley has been transformed with a fresh coat of paint & the street art depicting the Good Old Days (1900s) & the daily lives of early Chinese settlers in the neighbourhood ! My latest visit to Kwai Chai Hong was in Oct 3 2021 with two of my travel buddies, KF Wong & Thompson Tham. But I was enthused by a recent press media publicity about "Illuminating Shadows", a new art installation in Kwai Chai Hong prompted me to do this visit one more time to admire the Lighting & Shadow play bringing hope & positivity to this touristy place during the day & night ! Visitors had to comply with strict SOPs before entering (queuing, crowd control, temperature checks, only fully vaccinated people were allowed entries) !

5) Petaling Street (Chinatown) & nearby places, Kuala Lumpur City Center by Night (Time 19.30>20.00) - the center of Kuala Lumpur original Chinatown, still maintaining the traditional atmosphere particularly at night when vendors fan out their merchandise along the street ! A quiet affair as I strolled along this popular tourist attraction in the evening, hopefully business will return to normalcy in the weeks ahead as Kuala Lumpur is now placed under the National Recovery Phase 4 & over 95% of the adult population has completely vaccinated !
6) Kasturi Walk, Jalan Hang Kasturi, City Center, Kuala Lumpur - a covered, opened-air flea market set along Jalan Kasturi, a lane running alongside the Central Market.
7) Central Market (1888), Jalan Hang Kasturi, City Center, Kuala Lumpur - a popular tourist attraction, a center for Malaysian culture, art & craft, a building with significant historic value, the stalls inside the Central Market represents a concept of the traditional market in Kuala Lumpur since the 1800s ! I had a 15 minutes walk inside the Central Market & observed most of the stalls had closed & by 18.00, all visitors had to leave the premises ....
8) Lebuh Pasar Besar (Market Square), Kuala Lumpur City Center - this area stands at the confluence of the Klang & Gombak Rivers, where Kuala Lumpur started !
Monday Nov 8 2021 - accompanied my wife to Kuala Lumpur to buy Chinese herbal medicine & on our return journey, we paid a visit to the Royal Museum but the museum was closed at the time of our visit !
But we decided to do a window shopping & a small eat (lunch) in Sunway Pyramid Mall, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya (4km from my home place)
