" My Staycation & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) free & easy visit with my sister Mei to Mines Wellness City (formerly Mines Resort City), Seri Kembangan, Selangor on Saturday Sept 18 2021 (12.00>14.30) travelling by self drive car from Subang Jaya (my home place) > Mine Resort City; my 3rd outdoor trip after a National Lockdown (Movement Control Order / Emergency) imposed by the Malaysian Government on May 6 2021 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases; a National Vaccination campaign is currently being implemented by the Malaysian Government (1st phase started in Feb 2021), Selangor (my home state) is now placed under the National Recovery Phase 2 (NRP2) starting Sept 10 2021 which permits individuals with vaccination certificate or card for cross district travels, dine-in in restaurants, hotel accommodation & homestay, outdoor sport & activities within the same state "
Expenses incurred: Rm15 (petrol) + Rm2 (toll) + Rm3 (parking) = Rm20 (US$4.75); distance from Subang Jaya > Mines Shopping Mall, Seri Kembangan, Selangor is approx 21km one way

Mines Wellness City (formerly known as Mines Resort City - built in late 1980s on a site which was once the largest open cast tin mine, after the cessation of the mining activities, the massive hole was filled with rainwater & this led to the formation of 2 lakes, the larger North Lake runs from The Mines shopping mall, past the mines Waterfront Business Park, the blue-domed Sapura HQ building & the Mines Resort & Golf Club, the Palace of the Golden Horse & Philea Mines Beach Resort; the smaller South Lake is bordered by the Heritage condominiums & luxury bungalows, the lakes are connected by a canal which runs through the shopping mall.
1) The Mines Shopping Mall, Jalan Dulang, Wellness City, Seri Kembangan, Selangor - a modern mall built around a canal, with fashion & IT shops, restaurants & a rooftop water park - only fully vaccinated people (2 doses) are allowed entry to the mall, almost all the retail lots have opened for business, low shopping traffic during the mid-day, boat ride / Mines cruise service along the canal & lake has been suspended ...
2) Palace of the Golden Horses Hotel, Jalan Kuda Emas, Mines Wellness City, Seri Kembangan, Selangor - the front entrance of this 4 star premier hotel was locked at the time of my visit ! I suspect this hotel is temporarily closed until further notice - no thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic !
3) Mines Waterfront Business Park & The North Lake, Jalan Tasik, Wellness City, Seri Kembangan - very scenic, a good spot to enjoy a panoramic view of the Mines North Lake & a signature golf course. Pretty quiet & the place was rather deserted & devoid of visitors !
4) Aeroplane Restaurant, The North Lake, Seri Kembangan, Selangor - a Boeing 737 soon to be turned into a restaurant "parked" near the Palace of Golden Horses Hotel, after the National Recovery Phase & with a relaxed SOPs, hopefully everyone can dine & drink in this new Aeroplane Restaurant environment !

7) The Mines Residences, Seri Kembangan, Selangor - home of prominent individuals in Malaysia including the former Prime Minister !
8) Selangor Turf Club, Jalan Kuda Emas, Seri Kembangan, Selangor - a place of great tradition, where records are broken, horses triumph & winnings collected. It is the symbol of horse racing in the city of Kuala Lumpur, the Club which began its racing activities in the 1800s has over the century evolved & grown into a centre of all forms of equine activity
9) Philea Mines Beach Resort Hotel, Jalan Dulang, Mines Wellness City, Seri Kembangan, Selangor - the hotel reception was opened at the time of my visit, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I believe most of the hotels in Malaysia are now facing a low room occupancy rate, the resort hotel surrounding was quiet & devoid of hotel guests ! Next door is the Mines Resort & Golf Club & the Mines International Exhibition & Convention Center (MIECC)
Lunch with my sister Mei in Go Noodle House, The Mines Shopping Mall, Seri Kembangan, Selangor - only 2 dine-in customers spotted in this noodle house during the Saturday lunch hour (13.30) when my sister & myself showed up ! I believe many of the F & B outlets in the shopping mall are also facing the same predicament (low patronage) although the government has allowed dine-in in restaurants & eatery outlets; for this late lunch & after the Wellness City visit, we decided to eat in Go Noodle House & I ordered a bowl of Pork Ball noodle soup (Rm11.60 ++) & my sister Mei preferred Fuzhou style fish ball soup (Rm13.50 ++), the pork meat & fish balls stuffed with pork were of right springy texture & the noodles silky smooth came with a fragrant homemade broth - yummy yummy taste !

Universiti of Malaya Medical Center (formerly Universiti Hospital), Jalan Professor Di-Raja Ungku Aziz, Kuala Lumpur - a government funded medical institution, sister Mei & myself paid a visit to sister Peng who was recently warded in this hospital for observation & treatment prior to our visit to Wellness Mines City, Seri Kembangan
Sunday Sept 19 2021 - both my elder son & my wife's birthday falls on the month of September, so for this small life pleasure & due to the Movement Control Order, our family decided to have a small feast (dinner) at home this Sunday weekend instead of eating out - my wife through her culinary skill prepared a few home cooked food dishes for this small family gathering ! A memorable & enjoyable weekend for my family members indeed !
