1) Split, is a town on Croatia's Dalmatian Coast, known for its beaches and the fortress like complex, Diocletian's Palace, erected by the Roman emperor in the 4th century. Within its white stone walls & under its courtyard are a cathedral & numerous shops, bars, hotels & houses.
