" My Cuti Cuti (Vacation) day trip (by bus & cable car) to Genting Highlands, Pahang on Friday 20th July 2018 - my last visit to Genting Theme Park was in late 1990's & Chin Swee Caves Temple in 2015 "
Why Genting Highlands ? This highland visit, an hour by Genting Express bus from Kuala Lumpur Sentral was an impromptu trip for me - just Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) in this popular highlands resort perched on the peak of Mt Ulu Kali at 1,800m high in Pahang, Peninsula Malaysia ! Also it has been quite awhile (more than 15 years) that I have not set foot on this highland resort although I had twice stayed overnight at a hotel in Chin Swee Caves Temple to participate in a group Qigong training workshop about 3-4 years ago !
Over the last decade, Resort World Genting has undergone massive development and now boast of having 6 hotels and a resort hotel. One of the hotels ie The First World Hotel has claimed the first spot as the world's largest hotel with a total of 7,351 rooms in 2018.
By 2019, Genting is expected to open a new outdoor theme park ie 20th Century Fox World. This new attraction will woo more local & overseas visitors, no doubt visitors will have more fun & entertainment to spend their time in this popular resort, apart from enjoying the cool weather, indulging in shopping at the Premium Outlets, enjoying the local food at the Malaysian Food Street & trying their luck at the SkyCasino etc.
What a great & productive Friday for me (8am > 2pm) right from the time I boarded the Genting Express from KL Sentral and then took a cable car from Awana Skyway station for a stopover to visit the Chin Swee Caves Temple and then spent the rest of my time in the Genting Highland Resort - altogether a total of 6 hours for this Genting trip ! Thank God It's Friday today (TGIF) !
There is always another good reason for you to visit Genting if you do not like the heat in Kuala Lumpur or Klang Valley ! Just head up to the Genting Highland Resorts and when you are near the Awana cable car station, start humming the Sound of Music song - The hills are alive with the sound of Malaysian music …. The hills fill my heart …. from now on Genting will thrill you with the various amusement & entertainment activities …. a great fun awaits for all the visitors at the hill top ! My greatest admiration to the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, the founder of Genting Highlands Resort, for using a combination of his foresight & strong entrepreneur skill in developing this hill resort starting from scratch into now an integrated resort comprising of hotels, shopping malls, theme parks & casinos !
Whether you are first timers or revisiting and if you are in the Kuala Lumpur vicinity as a tourist or for a short visit, give yourself a treat and go Genting Express …. you will not regret seeing Genting by day or staying overnight in the world largest hotel, The First World Hotel, not to forget to dine with your loved ones in the clouds at any of the fine dining restaurants up in the Genting Highlands ! I had enjoyed this refreshing visit to Genting and I am sure you too will have a great time when you show up in Genting ! So when you are in Kuala Lumpur, plan a Cuti Cuti (Vacation) to this scenic Genting Resort and take home with you some interesting & fond memories !
Now that I had done the Genting Highlands visit - what's next ? Come early August, together with my Klang & Singapore travel buddies, I am heading to southern Thailand by an overland train ride from KL Sentral to Hatyai & Bangkok …. and then by public buses & a ferry to Koh Chang island, Chanthaburi, Rayong & Pattaya …… Sawadeekap ! See you soon in Thailand, the Land of Smiles ……
