Following the History Walk trail, Kuching
1) The Square Tower - built in 1879 as a fortress & a prison
2) Fort Margherita - built in 1880 named after Ranee Margaret, wife of Sir Charles Brooke, the second Raja of Sarawak, now the location of the Brook Gallery by the Brook Trust, London
3) Brooke Memorial Monument - built in honor of Raja Charles Brook and commissioned in 1924. The bronze panels represent the various races in Sarawak.
5) Astana or Palace, resides the current Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Head of the State), built in 1870 by by Charles Brooke as a bridal gift to his wife, Margaret, located across the river from Kuching Waterfront
6) General Post Office, Kuching - built in 1931 over the site of the old police station & horse stable
7) The Court House - built in 1874
8) St Thomas Cathedral, Kuching
9) Main Bazar Old Shophouses - faces the Kuching Waterfront & the Sarawak River. The old shophouses offers various souvenirs & gift items, art, handicrafts to visiting tourists & the stretch has a few western style cafes, backpacker hostels & tour agencies operating in this area
10) Tua Pek Kong Temple - the oldest temple in the city was built in the pre-Brooke era (1770) and has undergone much renovations since then.
11) The Sarawak Museum (renovation in progress) - Raja Charles Brooke founded the Sarawak Museum in 1888 & opened in 1891. The museum is reputed for its collection of artifacts of the people of Borneo

15) Kuching City Mosque, near open air market, built in 1968
