After visiting Heihe & Wudanlian Chi, I returned to Harbin and rested for a day before heading to Mudanjiang. The bus ride from Harbin to Mudanjiang took about 6 hrs. 

I spent a total of 3 days in Mudanjiang in order to allow time to visit the Jingpo Hu & Suifenhe. As Jingpo Hu is about 2.5 hr by bus from Mudanjiang town, so it made sense for me to join a local day tour as recommended by my hostel. Tourists could also continue their day tour in the afternoon to the Underground Forest (50km from Jinpo Hu) at an extra cost after visiting the Jingpo Hu.

Due to a dry summer month, the Diaoshuilou Waterfall near the Jingpo Lake was without water so nothing exciting here. I joined a boat cruise for an hour around the Jingpo Hu to get a feel of the place !

In down town Mudanjiang, I took public buses from my hostel to the Mudanjiang river front, People's Park & the town centre.

As Suifenhe is about 2.5 hr bus from Mudanjiang, I did a day trip to this town bordering the Russian border.
