Finally my dream of visiting Chiang Mai has been fulfilled !
For this first visit. I stayed for 3 nights in Chiang Mai. I allocated a full day to join a day tour from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai & the Golden Triangle.
The weather in Chiang Mai was cool & pleasant during the month of Juanuary ie 16c-23c.
I stayed in a hostel near the Moon Muang Road, not far from the Tha Phae Gate. As this place is rather central, it was quite easy for me to walk around and visit some temples (wats) within the moat area. Other places I visited were Tha Phae Road, Ping River, Loy Kroh Road, Kalare Bazaar, The Night Baazar, Governor's Residence, Plaza Chiang Mai , Chiang Mai Historical Museum, Chiang Mai City Art & Cultural Center, Three Kings Monument etc.
Foreign tourists enjoyed coming to Chiang Mai during the winter months due to the cool weather, friendliness of the people, low price of accommodation & good, cheap & tasty Thai food & beer ! Others could take up cooking classes, yoga, meditation, cycling & learning the Thai language - so no dull moments at all ! This explains why foreigners tend to stay longer in this fascinating city close to the Myanmar & Laos border !
I probably would like to re-visit & explore Chiang Mai again together with my wife, family members or friends especially during the low peak season during January … Chiang Mai indeed has the charm to attract foreign tourists - so if you have not seen Chiang Mai yet, don't wait any longer, just show up in Tha Phae Gate with a can of cool Chang beer !

After my Chiang Rai day tour and on my way back to Chiang Mai, our mini-van stopped by at a petrol kiosk and I went into this so called "Toilet Clean". I leave it to you to make the judgement if you ever have the chance to do your nature's call in this toilet !!!
