A beacon of light for Egypt |
There was no tsunami, no Arab Spring when I made a visit to Egypt in Oct 2008. When the Arab Spring hits the Arab world in Dec 2010, tourist arrivals in Egypt took a nasty fall !
Don't cry for me, my dear Egypt. Bring back your glorious past
What a wonderful place to be when I embarked on this free & easy trip, no easy meat especially travelling to the Upper Egypt, a dangerous place near the Sudanese border to see the Abu Simbel Temple. I saw date palm trees, rural farming activities along the Nile River, the deep blue Mediterranean Sea, Port Said & the Suez Canal, The Pyramid of Giza & the Great Sphinx , The Luxor & Abu Simbel Temple, the historic Cairo, the mummies in Egypt Museum, the Qauitbal Fort in Alexandria, the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut Temple (www.km-travel.blogspot)
What shall I say, a country with the oldest civilizations and once upon a time the land of the Pharaohs and after seeing with my own eyes, I was truly impressed - so fascinating, amazing, astonishing, mysterious, admiration, beyond imagination & incredible. All ancient civilisations have contributed in some way to the development of a modern society. Indeed Egypt has a long & rich history for the tourists to ponder & ponder.
Hola Egypt, I am learning history through travelling in my twine light years
On the eve of the battle of Giza, Napoleon Bonaparte said these words to his soldiers " from the top of these pyramids, 40 centuries of history gaze down upon you "
But a wise man had said " just touching an ancient pyramid was truly moving to me because when you touch these pyramids, you have such a sense of the passage of time, of history
Have I say too little or too much
There is nothing more I can think of to say of my dear Egypt and when the political turmoil is over, let the pyramids rebuilt Egypt again and tourists will come back in droves and Egypt will shine again
Oh Egypt, my dear Egypt - Don't cry for me
