At 8.00am, we took a bus from Amman to Madaba so that we could visit Mt Nebo, located about 9km from Madaba. On arrival in Madaba, we took a taxi (1JOD=Rm5.30 ) to Mt Nebo, a Christian holy place.
Mt Nebo is where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land. He died there at the age of 120! After passing the main entrance, we took a picture of the Memorial of Moses and visited a small museum.
The Moses Memorial Church was under renovation so we were not able to enter. We saw a large piece of floor mosaic and impressed with the drawing on it. From the top, we were told that we could see Jerusalem when the sky is clear.
After spending about 1.30 hour there, we took a taxi (1JOD) back to Madaba. Earlier, we had to resort to hitch hiking as there was no public transport service in Mt Nebo. We saw a large piece of floor mosaic and impressed with the drawing on it. From the top, we were told that we could see Jerusalem when the sky is clear.
At Madaba, my travel buddy visited the Greek Orthodox St George's Church, which I had visited prior to my visit to Egypt.
We took a bus (0.5JOD) back to Amman at around 3.00pm
