D-27 Sept 4 2026 (Urumqi, Xinjiang) - took a MPV van from Urumqi Railway South Square Bus Terminal to Hongguanshan Scenic Area (my 1st visit) followed by The Central Asia Park (both these places are in the same locality). Our 3rd visit was Hongshan (Red Hill) Park. In the evening, I took a stroll to a nearby shopping mall & supermarket for window shopping !
Public transport: MPV van (CNY6) + 1 DiDI ride (CNY18) + Town Bus (CNY1).
1) MPV van ride (CNY6 = Rm3.70) from Urumqi South Square Bus Station > Hongguangshan Scenic Area.
2) Hongguangshan Scenic Area - also known as Red Light Mountain, a famous tourist spot located in the Midong District of Urumqi, best known for housing the Hongguangshan Great Buddhist Temple, the largest Han Chinese Buddhist temple complex in Northwest China, the star attraction is a breathtaking 40.8m tall golden statute of Sakyamuni Buddha.
3) A buggy tram car ride (CNY5 = Rm3) from the security entrance to Big Buddha Temple

5) The Gate of Buddha's Warriors, Hongguangshan Scenic Panorama, Urumqi

13) The Central Asia Park, Hongguangshan Scenic Area, Urumqi - located nearby the Hingguangshan Scenic Area, a cultural landmark serves as a vibrant cultural hotspot that highlights the historical connection & architectural beauty between western China & Central Asia kingdoms along the ancient Silk Road; a 70m tall long Great Silk Road Relief Wall featuring carvings that tell the story of ancient caravans moving from China to the West & a Uzbekistan Pavilion.
14) Hongshan Park, Urumqi - also known as Red Hill Park, an inner city hill in Urumqi lies at the intersection of Hongshan Road, a free hilltop pagoda park with the city's best panorama, my 3rd visit (last visits were in Aug 2025 & May 2015), took a DiDi (CNY18) from Hongguangshan to Hongshan Park.
15) A light vegetable lunch in a eatery stall nearby the Hongshan Park, Urumqi.
16) After the Hongshan Park visit, we took a public bus from Hongshan Park (CNY1) back to our hotel.
17) My solo evening walk from hotel to Wanda Shopping Mall & YJHH Supermarket before retiring for bed !
