D-24 Tuesday Sept 1 2026 (Nalati & Yining, Xinjiang) - after a 2 nights stay in Nalati, we took a morning bus departing 10.00 from the Nalati Bus Terminal > Yining Passenger Transport Centre (250km) & upon arrival, we took a DiDI & checked into the same hotel we stayed earlier. In the late afternoon, we took DiDis & visited the Cultural & Tourist Area of Yili Old Town & The Light of Silk Road Tourist Town in downtown Yining.
Public Transport: 1 bus ride (CNY56) + 4 DiDi rides (CNY9.13 + 28.88 + 16.60 + 8.52 = CNY63)

| Narati > Yining (250km) |
1) My morning breakfast (CNY5) in a local restaurant, Narati, Xinjiang
2) Long distance bus ride (CNY56) from Narati Passenger Transport Centre > Yining Passenger Transport Centre (250km, 3.5hrs)
3) After our hotel check-in in Yining, I had a DIY lunch with my travel buddy in our hotel ie noodle soup with 2 hard boiled eggs + canned black sauce fish - simply delicious !
4) A rest in the courtyard of our homestay hotel, plucked a few fresh green apples & pears from an apple & pear tree in the courtyard - thanks to the generosity of our friendly hotel owner ! I had a DIY fruit dessert marinated with sesame sauce this evening !

6) Cultural & Tourist Area of Yili Old Town - also known as Kazanqi Folk Tourist Area, this 3.45sq km historic old town is a vibrant, multi-ethnic community inhabited by the Uyghur group alongside Hui, Kazath & Uzbek minorities, it is famously dubbed the "blue fairy tale town" due to its hundreds of distinct century-old houses painted in striking shades of blue ! Took a DiDi from our hotel to this fairy tale town.
7) Shaanxi Hui Grand Mosque, Yining - closed at the time of our visit !
8) Walkabout in Cultural & Tourist Area of Yili Old Town - small lanes & people's square etc
9) Promenade Flowers Exhibition Hall, Cultural & Tourist Area of Yili Old Town, Yining - exhibits of cultural relics & artifacts, the history & development of Ili Old Town
10) Welcome to Yili Old Town Cultural & Tourist Area - just take a leisure walk in this blue fairy tale town of Uyghurs, a living museum, traditional-style courtyards, deep blue-hued alleys, witnessing local multi-ethnic life etc
11) Light of the Silk Road Tourist Town, Yining - a vibrant cultural & leisure suburban town in Yining, the place was quiet at the time of our visit & not much activity; the town carries a Central Asia inspiring architecture, an Instagram spot ! Took a DiDi from Ili Old Town to this touristy town.
12) Statutes on The Door of Opening & The Communion of China & The West - located opposite The Light of the Silk Road Tourist Town.
13) Claypot chicken + rice dinner (CNY30) for 2 in a local restaurant in Renhe Walking Street, Yining (300m from our hotel).
