Day 26 Sunday Sept 21 2025 (Wuwei, Gansu) - started the early morning walking like a mud crab & taking local buses exploring downtown Wuwei, visited Wuwei Museum, Dayun Si Temple & Bell Tower, Haicang Park & Haizang Si Temple, South Gate (Liangzhou Gate) & ended our evening in Wuwei Pedestrian & Food Street for a simple, no frill dinner ! Looking forward for my next visit to Xi'an, Shaanxi prior to flying home sweet home !
1) Wuwei Museum, Gansu - founded in 1982, a national 1st class museum, the 3rd largest museum in Gansu Province, exhibits of over 46,000 ancient & cultural relics reflecting the city's historical evolution, politics, economy, cultural inheritance & humanistic society. Free admission.
2) Bus ride (Y$1) from Wuwei Museum > Dayun Si Temple & Bell Tower, Wuwei, Gansu
3) Walkabout in refurbished old alleys from the bus stop towards Dayun Si Temple / Bell Tower in downtown Wuwei, Gansu
4) Poems on Liangzhou, murals by the side of Dayun Si Temple (Wuwei), Gansu
5) Dayun Temple, Wuwei, Gansu - a historic Buddhist temple originally built in 363AD making it the oldest in the city & an important site along the ancient Silk Road, recently renovated after sustaining damage, reopening to visitors to display its cultural heritage including stone inscriptions, plaques, wooden screens, offering insights into cultural & East-West cultural exchange.

8) Late afternoon walkabout from our hotel to Haicang Wetland Park / Haizang Temple, Wuwei, Gansu - an interesting walk passing by an upmarket residential area, hotels, lavender park etc
9) Haicang Wetland Park, Wuwei, Gansu - a urban park in Wuwei city, the area includes natural & cultural attractions like the Haizang Temple & the North Lake.
10) Haizang Temple, Wuwei, Gansu - first built in Jin dynasty, has a history of over 1,700 years. In Yuan dynasty, the forth founding master of the Sakya sect of the Tibetan Buddhism came to Liangzhou, contributing money & expanding Haizang Temple & other 3 temples in Liangzhou, Haizang Temple became the Tibetan Buddhism Temple. During Ming & Qing dynasties, the temple was renovated & expended, it is an important temple on the Silk Road.


11) Bus ride (Y$1) from Haicang Park > Culture Square, Wuwei, Gansu - looking forward to view the Culture Square & South City Gate by night & our dinner meal in Pedestrian Street.

13) Line dance & singing group in People's Square, Wuwei, Gansu - spent an hour here, relaxing & enjoying the cool breeze & admiring the evening scene !

15) Culture Square by Night, Wuwei, Gansu - participation in social activities, line dance, family gathering & evening strolls for many locals while the night is young !

17) Dinner in Gourmet Street, Pedestrian Street, Wuwei, Gansu - my 2nd visit to this eatery stall & we really enjoyed eating the food (especially fried mihoon (rice vermicelli) cooked in Cantonese style !
