Day 2 Sunday August 21 2023 Part 2 (Final) continued - for this post, focusing my group's visit to Ling Sen Tong (Rock of Heavenly Spirits), Kek Look Tong (Cave of Ultimate Bliss or Great Happiness) & Galeri Rumah LAT (a royal & famous cartoonist in Malaysia) before heading home to Subang Jaya, Selangor thus ending my 2 days enjoyable small town charm visit (a feeling of great happiness after the visit) to Tanjung Malim, Behrang, Slim River, Batu Gajah & Ipoh (an ex-tin mining town) located off the North-South Expressway in Peninsula Malaysia (total mileage is 610km).  

1) Ling Sen Tong (Rock of Heavenly Spirits) Temple, Ipoh Perak - a beautiful Taoist temple located at the foot of a limestone hill in Ipoh, Perak, nearby is Nam Thean Tong & Sam Poh Tong just off Jalan Gopeng on the southern outskirts of Ipoh, the main compound of the temple is adorned with many statutes of various animals, deities & other characters from Chinese mythology eg Monkey King from the classic tale Journey to the West; my last visit to this cave temple was in July 2022 !   

2) Kek Look Tong Cave Temple (Cave of Ultimate Bliss or Great Happiness), Ipoh, Perak - a limestone cave temple on 12 acres with Buddha sculptures, a Zen garden with a reflexology footpath & visitors can hire a pedal boat ride (30mins) along the edge of the limestone cave to admire the surrounding scenery.

3) Porok Giam (Panna Cave), Ipoh, Perak - a medication place.  

4) Walkabout in downtown Ipoh, Perak after the cave temple visit & bought home a few packets of local delicacies & snacks. 

5) Lunch in Restoran Ong Kee, Ipoh, Perak - savoured the famous Ipoh bean sprouts chicken rice Rm52 (US$11.30) serving for a group of 3. 

6) Rumah LAT Gallery, Jalan Bemban, Batu Gajah, Perak - my 1st time visit, high number of visitors observed for this Sunday weekend visit, this new gallery was officially opened by the Sultan of Perak on July 9 2023, free admission till early Sept 2023 ! LAT was bestowed the title of "Royal Artist" by Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak during the official launch. LAT, the cartoonist was born in 1951. 

My group's last visit before heading home sweet home !

The Chronicle life of LAT (Datuk Mohammad Nor bin Mohammad Khalid), a Royal cartoonist, winner of the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in 2002, born in March 1951, started learning to draw cartoons during his school days. LAT has published more than 20 volumes of cartoons since he was 13 years old !
