" My Cuti Cuti Malaysia weekend morning visit to Klang, the royal capital of the state of Selangor, Malaysia (Saturday, 4-11-2017) from my Subang Jaya home - following the Royal Klang Heritage trail "

In Dec 2016 & Jan 2017, I did 3 colonial heritage walking tours covering Malacca, Kuala Lumpur & George Town / Penang. Peninsula Malaya was under Dutch, Portuguese & British colonial rules since the start of the 15th century. Malaya now Malaysia gained her independence from the British on 31st August 1957 - this year Malaysia celebrates her 60 years of independence. Both Malacca & George Town were classified as UNESCO Heritage sites in Malaysia hence these two cities are most popular & frequented by local & foreign tourists.

Klang is the official royal town of Selangor and well known for its Bak Kut Teh, a herbal soup uses pork ribs & tenderloins ! Although Klang is less popular as a tourist destination but given its close proximity to my Subang Jaya home (30 mins by KTM commuter trains), I just showed up & explored this royal town by following the Royal Heritage trail ! Many of the buildings & sites in old Klang town had a strong historical background and dated back to the 19th century !

So if you are after history & Bah Kut Teh , come to old Klang town and spend a pleasant weekend here !

My next Heritage walk trail will be Ipoh, the state capital of Perak & an ex-tin mining town in Central peninsula Malaysia !

Travel Itinerary: Subang Jaya KTM train station > Klang train station > Subang Jaya train station (22km one way - 35 minutes).

Total expenses incurred (by KTM trains): Rm1.60 x 2 = Rm3.20 (US$0.75)

Subang Jaya house > KTM Subang Jaya Train Station, Selangor - 10 minutes walk

Subang Parade Shopping Mall
Empire Hotel & shopping Gallery
Aeon Big Shopping Centre

KTM Commuter Train Pass for senior citizens - senior citizens of Malaysia are eligible to purchase a KTM Train Pass at the Subang Jaya KTM train station ticket counter for inter-city rides and enjoy a 50% discount - the start of my KTM train ride at 09.00 from Subang Jaya to Klang (train intervals every 30 mins)

Subang Jaya > Klang train ticket - Rm1.60 (one way - seniors)

Train ride from Subang Jaya > Klang KTM station, passing Batu Tiga, Shah Alam, Padang Jawa & Bukit Badak (35 minutes) . You could also board the KTM commuter train from KL Sentral train station & the traveling time to Klang takes around 1hr !
