My last visit to Kangding was in Sept 2012. For this visit, I had to spend 2 nights in Kangding as the bus journey from Chengdu to Kangding (210km) took up a full day ie 10 hrs, hilly & winding roads all the way. On the 2nd day, I joined a day tour (5 hrs) to Tagong grasslands & Xinduqiao, these scenic places are most beautiful during the Autumn months.
Kangding is located in a valley surrounded by mountains and is a fast growing modern town due to her close proximity to Chengdu, the provincial capital of Si Chuan.
After the Tagong day tour, I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the Kangding town and enjoying the cool mountain air ( around 16c in mid-Aug). Due to a wet weather, I had to carry an umbrella most of the time. The popular Chinese folk song, Kangding Love Song was originated from this town.
