My last visit to Hong Kong was in Dec 1986 - a lapse of over 27 years. How time has flown ! Another down the memory lane visit for me ! Imagined in 1986, I visited the Ocean Park, Repulse Bay, Wong Tai Sin temple, Victoria Peak & hydrofoil boat crossing from Hong Kong to Macau & a peek at the mainland China from Macau border check point ........ the time has changed so are the people and the places !
Hong Kong was returned to China in 1997 after the British ruled the island for 156 years. So what I am about to see is a new Hong Kong under a new political & economic system !
Hong Kong is still an expensive city for tourists to wine & dine. Food & hotel accommodations are not cheap and could "eat" into your shoe string budget easily. But for a senior citizen above 65 years old (my buddy Mr Choy now qualified), you pay a highly discounted ticket price (probably 50% less) using the Octopus Card for all your public transport rides within the city ! This is good news for me (I am 63 going on to 64 next year) so to K M Cheng why don't you come back to Hong Kong in two years time to enjoy this incentive ! Yes, I will .
Both of us had a jolly good time in Hong Kong after visiting a number of tourist sites during the day & night in this lively & vibrant city !
