Lisbon, Portugal
From Madrid, I took an overnight bus (E$34, 21.00>05.30) to Lisbon, Portugal. For the next three days, I really enjoyed my time in Lisbon & Sintra, an UNESCO World Heritage site.
Major tourist attractions I visited in Lisbon were : Statute of King Jose in Praca do Comercio, Catedral de Lase, Elevador de Santa Justa, Marques de Pombal roundabout, downtown Baixa, Vasco da Gama Bridge. Lisbon has a Mediterranean climate so the weather was superb throughout the day & night.
The only regret was that I did not include a plan to visit Porto, a town famous for her wine.
Sintra, Portugal
Sintra is about 40 mins by train (E$4.10 return) from Lisbon (Rossio train station).
I spent 1/2 day in Sintra, an UNESCO World Heritage site and visited the Sintra National Palace (famous for its 2 conical chimneys) and surrounding places. But I missed visiting the Pena Palace, Pena Park, Monserrate Palace & Moorish castle as I was probably run short of time to locate these sites in Sintra.
