After an overnight homestay, we departed early in the morning and arrived in Himeji, a quiet city between Osaka & Okayama. Here, we visited the Himeji-jo, the finest castle and also one of the original castle in Japan. The castle is currently under massive renovation and it will be closed to public for the next two years. We also spent time doing some window shopping at the Himeiji shopping mall.
From Himeiji to Hiroshima, it was a long ride. By the time we arrived in Hiroshima, it was evening and on arrival, we had a short visit to the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial. It was bitterly cold this evening and I retreated back to the bus after walking 100m to the Memorial to snatch a photo.
At around 20.00, we checked into the Hana hostel (Y6,800-RM256 for a room of two with bathroom attached) in Hiroshima.
1) Himeiji Castle - built in 1580, a major attraction in western Japan; a national treasure, one of the most beautiful castle in Japan. The castle was home to 48 successive lords.
