Day 16 Thursday Sept 11 2025 (Kashi or Kashgar Day 5 Final Day) - pretty straight forward for our Day 5 (Final Day) in Kashgar, both of us joined a day tour package (Y$190) from a local travel agent in Kashgar Old City & visited the famous White Sand Mountain & Lake and Karakul Lake, approx 200km from Kashgar city, Xinjiang.
1) Hotel buffet breakfast in Qinivake International Hotel, Kashgar, Xinjiang
2) Day tour (Y$190) bus ride from a hotel (meet up point) nearby the People's Square to Baisha White Mountain & Lake + Karakul Lake (08.00 > 20.30)
3) An hour of stopover in Akto County, Xinjiang (Visitor Service Center) for day tour members to queue up & apply for a Border Pass to Tashkurgan Restricted Area, bus loads of tourists & day trippers were seen to come to the Visitor Service Center to apply for a Border Permit - so be patience & prepare to join a "madding crowd" at the center ! No queuing for both of us as we had our Border Pass issued a day earlier at a Visitor Center near the Kashgar Airport !
4) The start of our tour bus ride from Akto County > Baisha White Mountain / Lake - the best is yet to come ! But as our bus moving its way towards the mountainous region, the countryside landscape started to change: captivating scenery like rugged mountain range, snowy mountain peaks, deep valleys, modern highway, deep blue sky, white sand lakes etc - to sum up, the natural scenery appearing in front of us is simply breath-taking, awesome, stunning, spectacular & magnificent looking (trying my best to find the best word to describe !) - no regret coming here, perhaps this will be my once in a lifetime trip - a most memorable one for many years to come !

6) Snowy mountain scenery as viewed from the moving bus heading towards Baisha White Mountain / Lake.
7) Baisha White Sand Lake, Habahe County, Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang - located in Akto County, Kizilsugiz Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, it is about 200km from Kashgar city & is just on the only way to the Karakul Lake. It occupies an area of 44 sq km. Baisha Lake is located in the Karakoram Mountains at an altitude of about 3,300m, the white sand is scattered like white snow. In Legend of the Journey to the West of Monkey King. Baisha Lake is just the quicksand river or Liusha He River. On both sides of the Baisha Lake stands the Gongge nine peaks. High mountain is sand mountain & sand mountain is slivery white & soft like white silk. Such a beautiful scenery, let the sleeping snow mountains & lake appear more pure & quiet.
8) A warning sign on high altitude sickness, no hefty run & jumping but walk slowly at your own pace ! If not feeling well, ring 120 for help !
9) Yak & horse rides around the beautiful lake, it's show time & a few rounds of photography sessions, leaving behind your footprints in this wonderful & scenic lake !

12) Tour bus exiting the Baisha Lake - Bye Bye ! What a lovely day for 2 Malaysian free & easy travellers issuing with a Border Pass to visit this region - I am speechless after seeing this beautiful Baisha Lake !
13) Kala Kule (Karakul) Lake - a lake located 196km south west of Kashgar, it is located in Akto County, Kizilsu Kirgiz Prefecture on the Karakoram Highway, before reaching Tashkurgan, the Khunjerab Pass on the China - Pakistan border & Sost in Pakistan.

15) Picturesque ! Blue sky & the beautiful Karakul Lake & Snowy Mountain. A natural beauty behold !
16) Try the horse & camel joy rides ! I believe by showing up here, your feeling is great & you are like on top of the world !
17) Not a Blue Day today ! But the weather is perfect ! A blue sky, white snowy mountain, camels standing & resting at ease - a beautiful day !
18) Muztagh Ata (7,546m), the high snowy mountain background is The Father of Iceberg !

20) Karakul Lake is 3,600m high - highest lake of Pamir plateau, just beware, but for those with a healthy & strong lung, height & age is not a barrier for you to show up here !
21) Exiting the Karkul Lake after almost an hour of sightseeing ! Time to head back to Kashgar while the day is young !
22) A 20 minutes stopover near the Aoyitak Red Hill area, off the highway, about 1.5 hour from Kashgar City.
23) Tour bus arriving (drop off point) near the Mao's Statute (greeting from Chairman Mao for our safe & happy return from a restricted Tashkurgan Area) in front of People's Square, Kashgar City thus ending my fascinating day tour to Baisha Mountain & Lake and Karakul Lake - a great sightseeing & outcome. One up for me in this China Dream My Dream visit in Southern Xinjiang !
