Day 2 Monday July 24 2023 Part 2 continued - after the Winter Flower Garden visit, our group next destination is Piyamit Tunnel & Millennium Tree (approx 9.5km apart)
1) Countryside scenery from Winter Flower Garden > Piyamit Tunnel - interesting to see many durian trees dominating the hills or mountain slopes along the main trunk roads, as July & August are the peak durian season, you could easily spot on durian trees here bearing bunches of ripening durians with branches tied with red nylon robes awaiting for harvesting & collecting to be trucked to major market places near Betong town for retail sales !
2) Friendship Village Arch - Piyamit Tunnel
3) Bodihisattva Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) - Piyamit Tunnel
4) Front Entrance & Ticketing Booth, Piyamit Tunnel - entrance fee 40bht (Rm5.40 = US$1.20) for foreigners; this tunnel was built 1977, 1km long, 5-6 ft wide, completed in 3 months by 50 workers ! Opening hours 08.00 > 16.30.
5) Canopy covered walking path, Piyamit Tunnel - the start of our hiking on concrete steps / paths, abundance greeneries, fresh cool air & pleasant environment !

17) Friendship Village Tunnel No 3 - Piyamit Tunnel - Welcome to Piyamit Tunnel ! Our group chose this tunnel to walk & exit to visit a Millennium Tree or back to the History Museum ! A short walk, well lit, dry floor, clear signage, quite cooling inside the tunnel, a very interesting experience !
18) Millennium Tree - Piyamit Tunnel - a small walk of 100m from the tunnel exit, a very old & giant tree, the Chinese signage described this tree as " Friendship Village Thousand Year Big Tree", a rare sight & a must see when in Piyamit Tunnel !
