Day-3 Thursday 22nd March 2018 - focusing my visit to Tehran Railway Station, Tajrish & Azari Tower Areas. These places were cool & pleasant to walk & the Azadi Tower was a hive of activity for locals, most having a joyful mood due to the New Year, photos shooting and loitering around the park. The snowcapped Alborz Mountains could be visibly seen from these three sites ! In the evening, I took a VIP coach departing from Beyhaghi Bus Terminal for an overnight bus ride to Shiraz.
1) Metro Rahahan (Line 2) > Central Railway Station, Tehran - constructed by a German engineer in the 1930's. No luck for me to take a train ride as all train tickets to major cities in Iran were fully booked 2-3 weeks in advance due to the Nooruz New Year !
2) Metro Tajrish (Line 1) > Tajrish Town & Bazar - located in the northern edge of Tehran; oldest parts of Tehran; popular spots are Tajrish Square, Tajrish Bazar & Emamzade Saleh Mosque.
3) Tajrish Bazaar - one of the oldest parts of Tehran; the long passageway of bazaar leads to the Holy Shrine of Emanzadeh Saleh, where locals pay their pilgrimage ......
4) Emamzade Saleh (Holy Shrine), Tajrish - one of the most popular Shia shrine in northern Tehran; visited the prayer rooms, impressive décor !
5) Metro Meydan-e Azadi (Line 4) > Azadi Tower, Tehran - also called the Freedom Tower; an iconic landmark in Tehran, built in 1971 to commemorate the 2,500th anniversary of the First Persian Empire !
6) Overnight VIP Bus from Beyhaghi Terminal, Tehran to Shiraz (932km-22.30>11.30) - Bus ticket 680,000 Rials (Euro$11.70)
