Travel is supposed to be simple but no one said it was supposed to be easy. For this Autumn 2016 (March-April), I spent a total of 22 days tip toeing across the Kiwi land from the North to South islands. I took public buses (not stray bus or tourist coach except Milford Sound) & ferries, so no easy way out for me in terms of transport but instead it was merely a test of my mental, physical & spiritual strength to realize this belated dream of mine of seeing this country so called New Zealand, a heaven on earth !
This visit of mine is just seeing a simply New Zealand with no frills (eating & sleeping simple) - travelling in leisure & admiring the natural landscape; breathing the fresh clean & cool mountain air; enjoying the sights of sheep, cattle & deer grazing in open grasslands; following the walking trails to see glaciers, volcanic lakes & national parks; smelling of the volcano's sulphurous fumes; understanding a bit of the Maori culture; enjoying the Milford Sound cruise ....... not to forget about Manuka honey !
So when you are in Kiwi land, wherever you go, go with all your heart - the return on your investment in seeing the North & the South islands is simply delicious !
If taking public transport ie buses & trains is not your cup of tea, try joining a stray bus tour and see the best & the greater regions of New Zealand & places off the beaten track simply through your own lens !
