Day 15 March 21 2024 Thursday (Chiayi, Taiwan) - our group's final day in Chiayi, next destination is Tainan.
1) Morning walk in downtown Chiayi prior to our train ride to Tainan.
2) Morning breakfast in a fish soup / porridge stall in Chiayi Morning Market; savoured a bowl of fish fillet soup + rice (NT$75 = Rm11.25) for twin sharing.
3) Local train ride from Alishan Forest Railway Chiayi Station (departing 11.47) > Tainan Train Station (71km, 1.15hr)

Alishan Forest Railway Chiayi Station > Tainan (71km) |
Day 15 March 21 2024 Thursday (Tainan, Taiwan) - due to an early arrival in our hotel (check-in is 15.00) so after leaving our luggage at the hotel reception room, our group began to explore a few touristy places in downtown Tainan city within walking distance from our hotel !
1) Chihkan Tower (Fort Provinta or Providentia), Tainan, Taiwan - a Dutch outpost on Formosa located in the West Central District of Tainan, built in 1653 during the Dutch colonial period; admission fee NT$70 (Rm10.50), external site visit only.
2) God of War Temple, Yongfu Road, Tainan City - oldest (17th century during the Ming Dynasty) & best preserved temple in Taiwan, a state temple of the Martial God, also called Tainan Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple or Grand Guandi Temple,
3) Downtown Tainan City - my 1st day familiarisation visit !
4) Hotel Accommodation: my 3 nights stay in LIHO Hotel, Zhongyi Road, Tainan, room tariff NT$900 = Rm135 (twin sharing) per night, 1.4km from Tainan train station, Uber cab ride NT$96 (Rm14.40) from train station to LIHO Hotel for 4 in a car with luggage !
5) Pictures of key historic / touristy places put up at the front of the LIHO Hotel's lift (Ground Floor).

6) My owned prepared late afternoon noodle lunch - stir-fried noodle / free range white chicken meat (NT$100 = Rm15 bought in Chiayi morning market) eaten in the comfort of our hotel !

7) National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Zhongzheng Road, Tainan - 1st national literature museum in Taiwan, museum researches, catalogs, preserves & exhibits literary artifacts, has a large collections of Chinese, Taiwanese & Japanese literature works by people who lived in Taiwan (from pre-Han indigenous people to the modern era), very impressed with the interior design of this building & the exhibits as well !
8) Public bus ride from Minsheng Green Garden bus stop > Flower Garden Night Market (30 minutes due to heavy traffic in the evening)
9) Group's dinner in Garden Restaurant, opposite the Garden Night Market, savoured a plate of vegetarian rice NT$60 = Rm9 for twin sharing.
9) Flower Garden Tourist Night Market, Hai'an Road, Tainan - a tourism night market in North District, Tainan, considered to be the largest & most famous night market in the city, it is said that "South is Flower, Middle is Fengjia & North is Shihlin" ! An enjoyable visit indeed for our group of 4 !
10) Bought a takeaway pack of fried oyster omelette (NT$70 = Rm10.50) in Flower Garden Market prior to departing (09.30) by Uber cab (NT130 = Rm19.50, 1.8km) to our hotel.
